112CALLING THE FATHER

To those who claim that our religion does not allow to use the name “father” for people who are not their fathers:

1- “If somebody claims to be the son of any other than his real father knowingly, he disbelieves in Allah, and if somebody claims to belong to some folk to whom he does not belong, let such a person take his place in the hellfire.” (Sihah Sita, Vol. 15, Hadith no: 5323; Narrated Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawoud, too)

Referring to this hadith, some claim that one cannot call others father. Those who claim to be the son of any other than his real father are called a bastard in public. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, had his adopted child, Zayd married. Zayd divorced his wife because they could not get along. Jibril, alahissalam, told our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, to marry the wife of Zayd. Pagans of the time used to take their real children, who called them father or whom they called son or daughter. Allah Almighty ordered our Prophet to marry the wife of Zayd in order to abolish this custom. (Ahzab, 37) Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, married her. Pagans said that Zayd lived with him and called him father and that he had married his son’s wife. Upon this, the following ayat was revealed:

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the Prophets; and Allah is cognizant of all things.” (Ahzab, 40)

After that, they understood that calling someone father or son does not make him the real father or real son. The hadith above states that if somebody claims to belong to someone to whom he does not belong, paradise is haram for such a person.

2- UMDAT-AL ISLAM, referring to Shir’a writes:

“If a teacher and parents both order something, one should fulfill the order of the teacher first.”

In a hadith Sharif it was stated:

There are three types of father:

a- A father who causes a child to be born;

b- A father who has his daughter married;

c- A father who teaches ‘ilm. The best of them is the teacher (scholar). (Saadat-e Abadiya, p. 401)

***

3- Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, called Abu Jahl Abu Jahl (the father of the ignorant). (His real name was Amr Ibn Hisham, his nickname was Abu’l Hakem) (Sahih Bukhari, Tajrid as-Sareeh, Vol. 4, Hadith no: 551)

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, called Abu Huraira Abu Huraira (the father of cats) (Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 6, Hadith no: 4091)

His real name was Abdurrahman Ibn Sahr. According to the narration, he narrated 5,375 hadiths. (Sihah Sita, Vol. 1, p. 63)

He called Ali Abu Turab (the father of soil). [Sahih Muslim, Vol. 7, Hadith no: 38 (2409), p. 314]

All Muslims called Abu Muslim Abu Muslim (the father of all Muslims).

Jafar Ibn Talib used to like to spend time with the poor and talk to them. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, called him Abu’l Masaqin (the father of the poor). (Sunan Ibn Maja, Vol. 10, Hadith no: 4125)

***

4- Kanan, the son of Nuh, alaihissalam, did not believe his father. When he was about to get drowned, he called to his father:

“Father, save me!” While Nuh, alaihissalam, was attempting to steer the ship, Allah Almighty said: “Whoever gets on your ship is of your family.” (Hud, 46)

In other words, he will be the father of all creatures, animals and humans in the ship. Allah states this in the Qur’an. If calling another father is not permissible, it is not permissible for one to call children who are not your real children my son or my daughter, either. If one speaks to them in this way, then they are deemed as their real father. One can be called father, but nobody claims that he is the real father.

***

5- Narrated by Abu Huraria, radhiallahu anh: Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

“I am in the position of your father. I teach you everything you need.” (Cont.) (Sunan Abu Dawoud, Vol. 1, Hadith no: 8, Ihya, Vol. 1, Hadith no: 123, p. 140; Narrated Ibn Maja and Nasai)

113To those who claim that adoption is not permissible:

This is simply wrong. If a Muslim passes away and there is no guardian to take care of the family and to protect their honor, their relatives try to find a true Muslim who will do so. They beg him to take care of this family. The greatest deed is to take care of them and to educate the children according to Islam. He adopts the children and takes their mother as his sister. If one cannot call such a person father, then one cannot call the others sister, brother, son etc., because those attributes imply the meaning of father.

Hadith as-Sharif:

“If somebody claims to be the son of any other than his real father, Paradise is haram to that person.” (Sahih Bukhari, Tajrid as-Sareeh, Vol. 12, Hadith no: 2082)

Such a person is called a bastard in our culture and our religion.

Hadith as-Sharif:

“If one protects the honor of one’s brother in Islam, Allah rescues him from the hellfire.” (Ramuz-al Ahadith, Hadith no: 5240; 500 Hadith Book, Hadith no: 414)

If a Muslim adopts a child and educates them according to Islam, he rescues that child, who would otherwise have gone astray. If he does not do so, this implies that they have delivered them to Shaitan and saying let this child be educated according to kufr (infidelity).

For instance, we play chess with Shaitan. If we get his pieces, we win; we serve the people of Islam. If he gets our pieces, he wins and makes people infidels. Which one is better? To make people Muslims or infidels? Is not what Shaitan wishes to make people infidels? You have a wife and she has a sister. If the father of your sister-in-law, your father-in-law dies and she asks for your help because she is not capable of taking care of herself, will you say to her: “You are not mahram for me. So I will not take care of you or your honor.”

There are three signs of a true friend:

a-      One who protects his friends’ property better than his own;

b-      One who protects his friends’ lives better than his own;

c-      One who protects his friends’ honor better than his own;

In the battle of Uhud, Zubair, Talha, Abu Dujana, radhiallahu anhum and Asma Bint Zam’a, radhiallahu anha, used their bodies as shields before our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Abu Dujana, radhiallahu anh, jumped into the well where our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, had fallen down, and was badly wounded. They protected his life and honor better than their lives and honor.

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, emigrated from Mecca to Medina. When he emigrated, everybody left, abandoning their property and family among the infidels in Mecca. Regarding those who did not emigrate along with our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, Allah Almighty said fiercly: “Was not Allah's earth spacious, so that you should have migrated therein?” (Anfal, 72; Nisa, 97). They begged and cried for many long years. Allah Almighty pardoned them on the condition that they never acted in this way again. (Nisa, 98-99) Was what our Prophet and his companions performed wrong? What about the ayats Allah Almighty revealed?

The people of Lut came to defile the guests of Lut, alaihissalam. He prevented them and finally (while they were digging through the wall) he told them: “Take my daughters instead!” (Hud, 77-78) Was Lut, alaihissalam, wrong? According to this ayat, are not you supposed to protect your Muslim brother’s honor better than yours?

Abu Muslim was captured by infidels. It was impossible to rescue him. No matter what the Muslims planned, it did not work. Without Abu Muslim, the Muslims had no way to win the war, so it was imperative to rescue him. Maymuna, the milk sister of Abu Muslim, along with some concubines went to where the infidels were and sold wine to their commanders. She made the son of Nasr Sayyad pass out with a drug added to the wine. She took the keys of the prison and she rescued Abu Muslim. Was Maymuna wrong or correct? For us, she did the best thing for Islam and performed the best deed.

Aisha, Fatima, Safiya, Um Sulaym, Hamna Bint Cahsh, Sumayra Bint Qays, Hind Ibn Amr Bint Haram, the daughter or sister of Amr Ibn Jamuh and Um Sulaim, radhiallahu anhum, joined the battles along with our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and helped him. [Islam Tarihi, Vol. 3-4, (3), p. 198] Were they committing a sin or performing good deeds? We think that they performed a good deed.

Being Muslim is not as easy as merely stepping on a white board, hey presto, you are Muslim, or you step on a black board and you suddenly are not Muslim. Being Muslim is both very easy and very difficult. Being an infidel is both very easy and very difficult, as well. It depends on the situation, place and time. People decide about other people by looking at their appearance, but Allah looks into their hearts. (Tam Ilmihal, p. 20)

Ali, radhiallahu anh, said:

“Whoever teaches me even one letter I will be his slave for forty years.” (Zinat-al Qulub, p. 62)

“Whoever studies knowledge to teach people, he will be granted the reward of seventy pious people” (Forty Hadiths in Forty Subjects, Hadith no: 22, p. 219)

If you adopt a child who has been left to the mercy of streets and train him according to Islam, you will get a reward thousands times more than the reward of those who piously worship.

When our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, was born, there was no believer at all on the earth. By the help of Allah, he rode the horse of miracles. He had the lasso of wisdom and knowledge from the state of Allah. He captured those infidels and made them Muslims. It was like domesticating a wild deer by tracking it. You adopt a Muslim child and take care of it. If you do not do this, someone comes out and performs it perfectly as follows:

When building their house, this person sets apart different guest houses, rest rooms, bathrooms and entrances for three groups: women, men and housemaids. Thus, you may do in terms of adopting children whatever you want. In addition, you send your son and daughter to distant places to be educated and you do not care whether it is mahram or not mahram, but you object to a Muslim brother who wants to take care of a fatherless child and train him according to Islam. Our religion does not impose anything as totally good or bad. The heart and the intention make it good or bad. The best deed is to perform salat. If one takes ablution and performs salat with arrogance and showiness, this is the worst sin. If one takes ablution and performs salat for the sake of Allah, it is the best deed. Likewise, if he adopts his Muslim brother or sister for bad causes, it is the worst deed. If he adopts him or her to teach Islam, he gets the greatest reward.

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said to ‘Umar:

- O ‘Umar! None of you will believe until I am dearer to him than his own soul. (Sihah Sita, Vol. 12, Hadith no: 4356; Bukhari, Fadailul Ashab 6, Istihzan27, Egman 3)

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

“Those who are deemed good by Muslims are deemed good by Allah.” (500 Hadith Book, Hadith no: 357)

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, was called “Muhammad-al Amin” by his society; the safe and the trusted are not written about in books, but selected by Muslims.

There are some people who are not to be trusted; when they pass before your house and stare inside, you get angry. And there are some others who are trusted; when it comes to adopting a fatherless child, they are asked to do so. In commerce, some have high credit and some others do not. Muslim society selects those who are most trusted and who are not. Those kinds of people do and will exist until the Day of Judgment as stated in the hadith above.

Hadith as-Sharif:

The signs of hypocrisy are three:

a- When he gives an agreement, he does not fulfill his commitment;

b- When he speaks, he lies;

c- When he is entrusted, he betrays the trust. (Al-Uhud al-Qubra (Imam Sharani), p. 994; Bariqa, Vol. 3, p. 435; Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, p. 119; Sahih Bukhari, Tajrid as-Sareeh, Vol. 1, Hadith no: 31; 500 Hadith Book, Hadith no: 10, Irshad, Vol. 1, p. 220)

The signs of true friend are three:

a- When he gives an agreement, he fulfills his commitment;

b- When he speaks, he surely speaks truth;

c- When he is entrusted, he never betrays the trust.

Some scholars state that this thing is permissible and this is not and they do not explain their reasons. Whereas, while issuing a fatwa, one should take into consideration the people, the time and the place. Let a rich person become poor and eat only bread for years, then they will understand what poverty is. Then let them speak about the permissibility of things for the poor.

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, Abu Bakr and other companions became rich in their latter days. However, they had empathy for the poor with whom they lived. They tried to adjust their life standards according to the needy. What about the scholars of our time? Do they adjust their life standards to the needy and the poor;  do they even spend time with them to eat what they eat or to offer food to them?

Allah Almighty makes your halal property haram to you because you did not give a fortieth of it to the needy and the poor. He orders this on you if you fail to complete the necessities of compulsory pilgrimage; you sacrifice an animal and distribute its meat to the needy and the poor (Muwatta, 1, p. 548) to complete your pilgrimage. He states that if one gives away his wealth, he purifies it. (Lail, 18) Thus, if you give your goods as charity or lend them to the poor, your property is purified. Allah Almighty is angry with rich people who do not give away their wealth, and they are cast into hellfire. When you are in the battle, you are permitted to eat haram meats, because you need to. If the poor are always in need of eating something, why are not they be permitted to eat such things, which are haram or suspicious?

Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, used to be sent gifts by the infidels. He and his companions used to eat them. He used to use the booty received from the enemy and give them to the poor, even though the goods of the infidels were gained by illegal ways such as interest or adultery. Allah Almighty made them halal. He purifies haram goods if you give them away to the poor. Halal money becomes haram if you do not give zakat and fitra. If you do not give zakat from your property, it becomes haram.

116OBEYING ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER

1- “A nation will arise; they will leave the Sunnah and look for unethical ways in religion. May the curse of Allah, His Messenger and all humanity be upon them.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 6284)

***

2- “Make it easy, do not make it difficult; give good news to people and do not frighten them away. Treat yourselves with ease and do not struggle.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 6318; 500 Hadith Book, Hadith no: 271; Mukhtar-al Ahadith Nabawiyya, Hadith no: 1391, p. 641)

A community must be supported by the Qur’an and the hadiths.

***

3- “And obey Allah and obey the messenger” (Maeda, 92)

***

4- “And test the orphans after they reach puberty; then if you find in them maturity of intellect, make over to them their property, and do not consume it extravagantly or hastily, lest they attain full age; and whoever is rich, let him abstain altogether, and whoever is poor, let him eat reasonably; then when you make over to them their property, call witnesses in their presence; and Allah is enough as a Reckoner.” (Nisa, 6)

The property of orphans is entrusted to a trustee. He either charges or gives it to the orphan fund. When the orphan grows up, the trustee delivers the property. The fund operates this property and earns from it. It gives a portion of this earning to the orphan. For the orphan, there is no harm in receiving this earning. If you do not give one-fortieth of your capital to the poor and the needy, Allah will make all your money haram. Even if you borrow  to orphans, He will purfiy your money THIS IS SAYING THE OPPOSITE OF THE PREVIOUS SENTENCE?. (Lail, 18) One will take care of his property so that it will not be damaged or lost. He will try to increase it. It should be same with the property of orphans. Allah cares for the orphan in the Qur’an and Hadith Qudsi. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, cares in his words, too. If you do not give to the orphan, Allah will your money haram. A soldier who is in trouble can eat anything, like donkey or mule meat, even though these are haram. The orphan is like a soldier in trouble.

5- “And let those fear who, should they leave behind them weakly offspring, fear on their account, so let them be careful of (their duty to) Allah, and let them speak right words.” (Nisa, 9)

***

6- “And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and goes beyond His limits, He will cause him to enter fire to abide in it, and he shall have an abasing chastisement.” (Nisa, 14)

***

7- “O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you; then if you quarrel about anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the last day; this is better and very good in the end.” (Nisa, 59)

***

8- “Whoever obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys Allah, and whoever turns back, We have not sent you as a keeper over them.” (Nisa, 80)

***

9- “And he who obeys Allah and His Messenger, and fears Allah, and is careful of (his duty to) Him, it is these who are the achievers.” (Noor, 52)

***

10- “Say: Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn back, then on him rests that which is imposed on him and on you rests that which is imposed on you; and if you obey him, you are on the right way; and nothing rests on the Messenger but clear deliverance (of the message).” (Noor, 54)

***

11- “Do not hold the Messenger's calling (you) among you to be like your calling one to the other; Allah indeed knows those who steal away from among you, concealing themselves; therefore let those beware who go against his order lest a trial afflict them or there befall them a painful chastisement.” (Noor, 63)

***

12- “And it behooves not a believing man or a believing woman that they should have any choice in their matter when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he surely strays off a manifest straying.” (Ahzab, 36)

***

13- “O you who believe! obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn back from Him while you hear.” (Anfal, 20)

***

14- “And obey Allah and obey the Messenger, but if you turn back, then upon Our Messenger devolves only the clear delivery (of the message).” (Taghabun, 12)

Obeying Allah means performing His obligatory duties and obeying His Messenger in performing his Sunnah.

***

15- “The dwellers of the desert say: We believe. Say: You do not believe but say, We submit; and faith has not yet entered into your hearts; and if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish aught of your deeds; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Hujraat, 14)

Once upon a time, an official who was performing and defending disbelief said: I am in Islam. We asked my father(Sheikh) Bilal:

“ He says that he is in Islam. What do you think?”

“He is in Islam, but he is not a Muslim.” Then, he explained shortly what he meant. This verse tells what my father(Sheikh) Bilal said. Let me briefly narrate what my father (Sheikh) Bilal said: ‘The fact that he has been circumcised and his testimony that he is Muslim are different from the fact that his heart is in disbelief. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, listened to 101 verses of the poet Umayya Ibn Abi’s-Salt and said: ‘His poem has believed yet his heart has not.’ (Sihah Sita, Vol. 8, Hadith no: 2307) It is same, as well.”

16- “O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not make your deeds of no effect.” (Muhammad, 33)

17- “There is no harm in the blind, nor is there any harm in the lame, nor is there any harm in the sick (if they do not go forth); and whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will cause him to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, and whoever turns back, He will punish him with a painful punishment.” (Fath, 17)

118In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

MY FATHER (SHEIKH) BILAL’S MAWLID SERMON

This is a mawlid sermon of my father (Sheikh) Bilal, who recorded it on his tape recorder. He recorded this sermon by reciting it from a book. Since we could not find the book, we are not able to provide some of the sources, yet we still present it as it was recorded. Mawlid is Arabic word. If mawlid  was an innovation of the Turks, a Turkish word would have been used.

Now, we will talk about the Mawlid-e Sharif, if Allah wills.

This section explains the Mawlid-e Nabi of the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

Abu Bakr Siddiq, radhiallahu anh, said:

“Whoever spends a penny for mawlid to be recited, he will be my companion in paradise.”

‘Umar Ibn Khattab, radhiallahu anh, said:

“Whoever proudly respects the mawlid of Muhammad, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and recites it, he will revive the religion of Islam.”

Uthman, radhiallahu anh, said:

“Whoever spends a penny on a mawlid to be recited, it is as if he had joined the battles of Badr and Hunain along with the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

Ali, qarramallahu wajha radhiallahu anh, said:

“Whoever causes the mawlid to be recited proudly and respectfully, he will die as a Muslim and enter Paradise without any trial.”

Hasan Basri, radhiallahu anh, said:

“I wish I had the riches of Mount Uhud and that I could spent all of it for mawlid recitation for the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.”

Junaid Baghdadi, qaddasallahu sirrah, said:

“Whoever joins a mawlid recitation and listens to it with respect will save his belief.”

Ma’ruf Karhi, qaddasallahu sirrah, said:

“Whoever organizes a mawlid ceremony, prepares foods, invites guests, wears new cloths, has scent on them, and recites withrespect, he will be resurrected along with the party of previous prophets whom reside in the highest of highest ranks. He will join them.”

I am Muhammad Bilal Nadir. This page was blank when I started. I will tell you what I saw. When I went to Giresun I met a man; a little later he died. He had two wives. They came to me and said:

“Our husband told us just before he died:

‘Clean the house! Put clean clothes on me and apply rose fragrance! The Prophets and the friends of Allah are over here. I will die tomorrow at this time (He stated the hour). Have my water to wash my body ready before hand! Now leave me alone, because my guests will come again. Prepare my coffin!’

We did as he asked. While he was alive, we prepared the house and applied perfumes. Then we secretly looked at the house. We could see pure green light, but no house. It was if we were drunk with the perfumes that wafted from the house. He called to us from inside:

‘Do not wait there, go!’ We went to our room. Then he called to us again:

The time is up, I am leaving now.’ He uttered the shahadah and passed away. We were amazed by what we saw. Was this divine or evil?”

I asked them: “What was your husband doing? With what was he busy?”

They said: “He was fond of mawlid recitation. Whoever organized a mawlid ceremony, he was ready to serve him. He used to serve in all the mawlid ceremonies.”

I remembered this man. Indeed, he was the organizer of all the mawlid ceremonies. Whoever wanted to have a mawlid recitation, this man was ready to spend all his money and serve him. This was why all the prophets came to visit him; their names were uttered at the mawlid ceremonies. I told them not to worry about him.

Fahraddin Razi, a unique individual of his time, qaddasallahu sirrah, said:

“If one recites mawlid over salt or any food, one sees the blessing pouring from them. Those who eat them will not have any problems. Allah Almighty forgives them. If the mawlid is recited over water, the hearts of those drinking the water will be filled with one thousand blessings and light and can be emptied of one thousand evils. On the day that all hearts die, their hearts will not die. Whoever recites mawlid upon a coin (piece of metal with a distinctive stamp), this coin grows and its owner never faces poverty. So, after the mawlid ceremony, it is better to give water or salt.”

Imam Shafi, rahmatullahi alaihi, said:

“Whoever gathers his brothers for mawlid of Muhammad, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, serving all and causing mawlid to be recited he will be resurrected along with the truthful, the martyr, and the good in Na’im Jannah.”

Sirri Saqati, qaddasallahu sirrah, said:

“Whoever prepares a place to recite mawlid prepares a place from Paradise.” This is because this place is prepared with the love of the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. He sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

“Whoever loves me actually loves Allah. The place of those who have a love for Allah is Paradise. This means that he will enter it. Reciting mawlid is only possible by love for the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. At the time of the Prophet, the companions used to invite him with gratitude. When he came to their houses, all their problems were solved and their houses would be filled with blessings. If we were to live at his time, we would invite him, as well. For today, we can invite him by reciting mawlid and organize mawlid ceremonies, because he personally accepts salawat that is uttered for him on Fridays.” (Gunyat at-Talebeen, p. 783; Mir’at-e Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 639; Islamda Helaller ve Haramlar (Ibn Hajar al-Haitami), Vol. 1, Hadith no: 650/d, p. 317; At-Targib wat-Tarhib 2/503; Narrated Bayhaqi) Thus, he joins the ceremony. This is written by Bilal.

Imam Jalaladdin as-Suyuti, the sultan of Gnostics, - qaddasallahu sirrah, may Allah bless his grave - said in his “Bilwasail” book while explaining Shamail-e Sharif:

“If mawlid is recited in a house, masjid, or neighborhood, the angels surround it. They invoke salawat upon those who are there. Allah Almighty grants His blessings and mercy. Allah removes famine, plague, fire, flood, calamity, trouble, envy, jealousy, the evil eye, and theft from this place. Allah also makes the death of the people there easy. The trial of the angels Munkar and Nakir becomes easy for them. As Allah Almighty said in the Qur’an, they will be ‘in the seat of honor with a most Powerful King.’” (Qamar, 55)

“Whoever respects the mawlid of the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, mawlid suffices for him. And whoever underestimates it, Allah does not value him, even he is praised by the entire world. His heart is not tender nor does it have the love of the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. May Allah separate us and you from his love!

Al-Fatiha.

This is respect to the mawlid of the Prophet, sallallahu alahi wa sallam. There are some hodjas and preachers who oppose mawlid. Why do they oppose it? Let those who oppose mawlid listen to what is said here! May they fear Allah! May they be ashamed of the Prophet! Allah Almighty has created the entire universe for the sake of our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

Allah Almighty said: “O Muhammad! If you were not to exist, I would not have created the earth and the heavens. I have created them for you.” Do not listen to the Wahhabi people and divert your beliefs! There are many mischievous hodjas who follow Wahhabis, yet are not pious. May Allah protect the pious hodjas, muftis and preachers! May Allah help them! May Allah correct the sinners and show them the straight path!

(Recorded sermon finishes here)

7- Narrated by Amr Ibn Rabia, radhiallahu anhu: Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

“Angels invoke salawat upon any believer who invokes salawat upon me. (they pray for him.) Thus, the servants do it more or less.” (Sunan Ibn Maja, Vol. 3, Hadith no: 907; Ihya, Vol. 1, Hadith no: 977, p. 891; Mukhtar-al Ahadith Nabawiyya, Hadith no: 1076, p. 541)

8- Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

“The salawat of any believer spreads out everywhere, including over the lands and seas, the east and west and cries out the following:

‘I am the salawat of so and so. He invoked salawat upon Muhammad, the best of the creation, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Everything which hears this calling invokes salawat upon this believer.’” (Explanation of Dalael-e Khairat, Kara Dawoud, p. 38)

9- “Salawat does not stop anywhere other than at the Arsh (Throne). The angels who see this salawat call each other to invoke salawat upon the owner of it. Allah’s mercy is upon him and he will be brought to me on the Day of Judgment.” (Mir’at-e-Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 60-61)

10- “As long as I have salawat invoked upon me, an angel informs me: “O Ahmad, alaihissalatu wassalam, so and so has invoked such and such a salawat upon you.” (Mir’at-e-Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 60-61)

11- Allah Almighty has some angels who convey the salawat of my ummah to me. Allah has assigned an angel named Salsail to my grave. It is like a rooster. Its head is under the Throne and its feet are under the seven levels of the earth. It has three wings; one is in the west, one is in the east and the last one is above my grave. Whoever invokes salawat upon me, this angel conveys this salawat by writing it on a leaf of light and says:

‘O Muhammad! So and so has invoked such and such salawat upon you.’ His twenty thousand sins are forgiven and he is rewarded with twenty thousand Tooba trees. When his deeds are lightened, I say that I have a trust of him. I am called:

‘O Beloved Prophet! Today is your day.’

I put the salawat and pray to Allah to make it weightier. (Written in Zayn-al Majalis) (Mir’at-e-Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 60-61)

12- Cited in Zayn-al Majalis by Sheikh Ayni: “Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said:

‘Three are (the persons) whom Allah will give protection to on the Day when there will be no shade but shade of His Throne.’ He is asked:

‘Who are they?’

‘Those helping my ummah, those reviving my Sunnah and those invoking more salawat upon me.’

There is a hadith: “Allah Almighty has an angel whose one wing is in the west and the other is in the east. Its head is under the Throne and its feet are under the seven levels of the earth. It has hair all over its body, the quantity of which is equal to the number of creation. Whenever a man or a woman from my ummah invokes salawat upon me, Allah Almighty orders this angel to dive into the sea of light under the Throne. Its every hair picks up a drop. Allah Almighty creates an angel out of every drop, which prays for them.” [Mir’at-e-Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 643; Hujjat-al Islam, (Imam Ghazali), p. 58-59]

26- Some of the companions said:

“In every assembly where salawats are invoked upon Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, there arises a pleasant odor which ascends to the middle of the sky. Smelling this odor, the angels say:

‘This is an odor arising from the assembly where salawat is chanted.’”

Some narrated:

“As soon as a male or female believer begins to invoke salawat upon Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, the doors of Paradise will be opened and there will not close up until the Throne. All the angels in the skies invoke salawat upon Allah’s Messenger, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and pray for forgiveness for those believers, male or female, who invoke salawat upon him as Allah wishes them to do so.” (Explanation of Dalael-e Khairat, Kara Dawoud, p. 42-43)

123For those who asking how can the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam accept and record the millions of people who are invoking salawat upon him?

If you point a million mirrors in the direction of the sun, they all reflect the sun. Each of them reflects its light and enlightens dark places. The spirituality of our Prophet, sallallahu alahi wa sallam, is like a sun. A manmade television can display millions of different places; we can in no way compare a television with the spiritual capability that our Prophet has been granted by Allah. Normally, humans cannot be in two places at the same time; however a spirit can be in a hundred thousand places all at the same time. You cannot answer two telephone calls simultaneously, but you can communicate spiritually with a hundred thousands of places. That is the situation of our Prophet. Our bodies are incapable, yet when Allah allows them to they become capable. The Companions of the Cave slept for 309 years; yet they did not get hungry. (Kahf, 25) Yunus, alaihissalam, survived inside the fish’s stomach, our Prophet, sallallahu alahi wa sallam, experienced the Mi’raj, and Isa, alaihissalam, lived  in the sky for 2000 years; they performed all these actions without difficulty.

Invoking salawat upon our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, is crucial. Invoking salawat in congregation and reciting Mawlid are also important and a means to be forgiven. It is great shame that our scholars have banned it in mosques. A scholar should perform and teach people how to invoke salawat and not disdain it. Otherwise the entire Ummat-e Muhammad will accuse that scholar on the Day of Judgment. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, will accuse him, as well. Forbidding musafaha (hand shaking) in mosques is the same as forbidding salawat. And it is violation of the ayat: “Call for (Divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation.” (Ahzab, 56) Since the Qur’an is Allah’s word, it is also violation of Allah’s command. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, is the master of the universes. Nobody’s word but his will be valid on the Day of Judgment. He is the Sultan of the Prophets. He is the last of the prophets. (Ahzab, 40) Our Prophet will be brought as a witness against his ummah (Nisa, 41; Nahl, 89) and each person will be asked a question on the Day of Judgment. If they are able to answer it, they will be free. If they are not, then they will be cast into the hell fire. How can one survive when Allah and His Messenger will accuse him? A deed is the deed Allah has accepted; otherwise it is just exertion. Our salvation is that our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, will address us as “my ummah”; otherwise we will be like a lost traveler. What do those who ban salawat in mosques trust in? They do not apply anything; worse they hinder people from performing salawat or musafaha and thus damage Islam. And they hope that their worship and prayer will be beneficial to themselves. How can it be? The hypocrites performed their prayers perfectly, their wudu, fasting, pilgrimage and zakat were all without fault, yet none of their deeds were rewarded. They were all cast into the hell fire. (Sihah Sita, Vol. 2, p. 292 (similar)) Allah does not accept the deeds of hypocrites. There is no appeal. There is no objection. The same is true for us. Therefore, we should promote people to invoke salawat upon the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Otherwise, hell is a dragon that knows no fear. It is the nightmare of those who invoke more salawat upon our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. We have to think about this and try to perform the sunnah of the Prophet.

When hell is boiling over,

Casting its fire into the universe,

When the mother avoids her daughter

May Allah show me Muhammad.

He turns some from the gathering place

Some are called by the guardians of Hell

He runs between Sirat and Mizan

Muhammad cries, saying O my ummah.

Yunus Emre

Think about that day! Speak and work accordingly; regret is of no avail.
