11ALLAH ALMIGHTY GRANTS HEALING TO

THE RECITING OF THOSE SERVANTS HE LOVES

1- “And We reveal of the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers” (Isra, 82)

Other verses in the Qur’an about healing:

(Shuara, 80; Fussilat, 44)

***

2- “The Qur’an is a cure to all diseases.” (Sunan Ibn Maja, Vol. 9, Hadith no: 3533)

3- There are many ill people whom our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, cured by reciting. Some of them are mentioned in the following hadith books:

Mawahib-al Ladunniya, Vol. 1, p. 665; Mir’at-e Kainat, Vol. 1, p. 498; Hayat-as-Sahaba, Vol. 4, p. 261-262; Vol. 2, p. 106; Shawahid-an Nubuwwa, p. 175, 177; Sahih Muslim, Vol. 7, Hadith no: 34 (2406), p. 309-310; Sahih Bukhari, at-Tajrid as-Sarih, Vol. 10, Hadith no: 1611)

The numbers of hadiths regarding healing and reciting:

Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 82; Sihah Sita, Vol. 11, Hadith no: 4026; Sunan Ibn Maja, Vol. 9, Hadith no: 3501; 3512-3514; 3521, 3527, 3529, 3549;  Mukhtar-al-Ahadith Nabawiyya, Hadith no: 157, p. 143; Sahih Muslim, Vol. 7, Hadith no: 54 (2194), p. 48; Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 3, Hadith no: 2142, 2165; Shawahid-an Nubuwwa, p. 114-115.

There are more hadiths which we cannot give here as we have limited space.

4- When our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, recited to the sick, he said:

“The dust of the earth mixed with the saliva of some of us would cure the patient.” (Zubdat-al Bukhari, Hadtih no: 1301)

It is permissible to take a piece of soil from the graves of the awliya (saints) and to rub it on oneself. Reciting the Qur’an and blowing or spitting afterwards is also allowed.

When the Prophet said “some of us”, he was referring to the fact that the reciting of my ummah is a healing. Some so-called sorcerer hodjas write the script of the Qur’an in the reverse or write it in the blood of an animal. He uses the Qur’an as seat to make his magic operational. The former kinds of people are called magicians, or sorcerers, or soothsayers.

“Whoever ties a knot and then blows on it, this is magic. Whoever performs magic, he associates partners to Allah (cont.) [Sihah Sita, Vol. 8, Hadith no: 2237; Nasai Tahrim 19 (7, 112)]

They actto make someone demented or to separate wife and husband. Our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said: “Annihilate them wherever they are seen.” On the other hand, one can heal hopeless cases by reciting the Qur’an and blowing on them. This must be done. (Isra 82, Yunus 57; Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 2796; Sunan Ibn Maja, Vol. 9, Hadith no: 3533). The application of our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, to heal patients is both sunnah and spiritual restoration, which is bewilderment for the unbelievers.

Allah Almighty grants healing to the reciting of those servants He loves. He grants it both by reciting and in the idea of the following ayat: “Who is he that can intercede with Allah but by His permission?” (Baqara, 255) Healing is to take of advantage of knowledge.

It is a great reward for a Muslim doctor to heal a terminal patient. It is a great sin not to apply to a doctor. Applying to a doctor is permissible. If the same cure comes from someone reciting the Qur’an, is it important whether we kiss his hand or not?

5- “A scholar whose knowledge is beneficial to everyone is better than a thousand worshippers whose knowledge is useless.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 2874, 3900, Kanz-al Irfan, Hadith no: 196; Sihah Sita, Vol. 11, Hadith no: 4104; Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 4, Hadith no: 2821)

The benefit of knowledge is to heal by reciting the Qur’an, blowing and spitting in this world and being saved from the Hellfire through its intercession in the Hereafter.

6- “The ink of the scholars is measured against the blood of the martyrs on the Day of Judgment. The ink of the scholars is heavier than the blood of the martyrs.” (Sihah Sita, Vol. 1, Hadith no: 415)

***

7- “If the ink of the scholars is measured against the blood of the martyrs on the Day of Judgment, it would be heavier than the blood of the martyrs.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 4440)

8- “Five things are from worship: Looking at face of a scholar, eating less, spending time in mosques, looking at the Ka’ba, looking at the Qur’an.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 3489)

***

9- “Five kinds of looking are from worship: Looking at face of one’s parents is worship. Looking at the Qur’an is worship. Looking at the Ka’ba is worship. Looking at Zamzam is worship which decreases wrongdoings. Looking at the face of a scholar is worship.”

“Whoever loves knowledge and scholars, his wrongdoings will not be counted.” (Bariqa, Vol. 2, p. 282)

10- Allah does not grant healing to those who do not ask to be healed by recitation of the Qur’an. (Bariqa, Vol. 1, p. 141)

This is such a great contempt of Allah and His Messenger in the people who, in despite of hearing and seeing, do not believe in those who heal by reciting the Qur’an. Allah grants healing either by His mercy or by His wrath. He grants what is halal by His compassion and gives what is haram by His fury.

11- “Protect yourself by special prayers; that is, try to be protected. If there is something effective to destiny it is  praying.” (Gunyat-at Talebeen, p. 129)

12- “Fatiha Sharifa is a cure for poisons.” (Ramuz-al-Hadith, Hadith no: 3988)

***

13- Gulsum Ibn Husain was injured in the throat by an arrow. Allah’s Messenger applied his saliva and she was immediately cured. (Mir’at-e Qainat, Vol. 1, p. 457)

No word can overcome the word of Allah Almighty; next is the word of our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. It is not proper to say such things as, “Such and such a scholar said the following,” if it opposes the ayats and hadiths mentioned before. Allah Almighty is never mistaken in His doings. He does not grant healing to someone with whom He is not entirely at ease, and this has been disclosed. People look at the appearances of others, at how they recite the Qur’an and how they talk and use fancy words. On the other hand, Allah Almighty looks at their hearts, their intentions and their deeds. Are all a person’s doings for Allah’s sake or not? Are all their deeds in the direction of the Qur’an, the hadiths and the Ahl-i Sunnahh? Everybody has a direction and nobody pays heed to any word unless it is true. Allah Almighty knows what is hidden in the hearts and judges accordingly. This is very important.

14- Narrated Muhammad Ibn Salim radhiallahu ‘anhu:

Sabit al Banai said to me:

- O Muhammad! If you suffer pain, put your hand to the place where you feel pain and say: ‘Bismillah! I seek refuge in Allah because of this pain I feel.’ Repeat this prayer in single numbers.” He told me that Anas radhiallahu ‘anhu narrated it from our Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. (Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol 6, Hadith no: 3820)
